LG-BU40N, Leawo Bluray player and HDR

Post by thinredline »

Hello.
I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.
I'd like to play 4k discs on the fly without having to copy them with makemkv in my hard drive.

I have an LG-BU40N with firmware version v1-03mk.
I have used this method described here for VLC, but it doesn't work.

Now, I've tried Leawo Bluray player and it does work, it plays the disc with menu and all, but I don't know how to enable HDR. The picture seems washed out.
The first 4k disc I bought is Saving Private Ryan.

Does anyone know how to enable HDR in Leawo player, or how else can I play the disc with decryption on the fly?
I can play decrypted 4k Blurays on my hard drive with MPC-HC and DVDFab player 6 and the colors seem ike they should be with HDR enabled.

My specs are: Intel Core i7 @2,60GHz, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650Ti, Windows 10 64bit.

edit: It seems now I can play the main movie with MPC-HC and VLC. I don't know what happened, it didn't work previously.
Anyway, my first question still stands about the Leawo player and HDR.

The method I posted works you can also do it easier now with the makemkv integration tab and get full menu playback if you have the the correct Java version installed as your vlc install 32 or 64 bit. No one is going to help you with leawo here they in the past or currently stole makemkv tech.

Thank you for your reply.
I have the latest update of java installed but still there is no menu support in VLC.
How do I find what Java should I install?

Thank you asmcom.
I installed again the latest version, and again VLC tells me I don't have java installed.
I don't know why...

Never mind my previous post. I installed 64 bit Java and now it works! (it seems I had installed the 32 bit version).

Thank you again asmcom!

(Now if MPC had this menu support too! I'm not a big fan of VLC)
