Every 4K Rip Stutters at SAME POINT During Playback [Asus BW-16D1HT (3.10MK)]

Sorry, for the redundant post, but think it might be better in this forum than "UHD Drives". Mods please delete whichever one is less appropriate.

Every 4K Rip Stutters at SAME POINT During Playback [Asus BW-16D1HT (3.10MK)]

None of the 4K rips I create playback properly. They all stutter.

This is not random stutter because of network issues or computer resources. I ran the file locally, monitored all resources and everything is fine.

Tried playback on different computers and again, the same behavior.

Stutter occurs at the EXACT same point in each movie on every playback.

Symptoms are the same on every 4K rip I have made.
I ripped directly from disc (same movie twice) using MakeMKV.
      - Tried 1.15.1 and 1.15.4
I extracted the whole ISO using AnyDVD HD and then used MakeMKV with the ISO.
I extracted the whole ISO using AnyDVD HD and then used DVDFab with the ISO.

          Same behavior on every playback.

The only thing I can think of that hasn't been isolated is either the drive or the firmware.
I don't know how to properly flash the firmware without making it "unfriendly".
What firmware I should even try.
Where to get the firmware files.

                Any help is appreciated!

The logic you are missing: It's your player / playing setup.

Thanks for the reply. Totally open to following up on this, but having a helluva time trying to find a good 4K MKV player. Been messing with VLC for days and no joy. Don't want to drop money on one of the many garbage programs I have seen posted on the forums.

                Any recommendations?

Follow up to that, found software called "PotPlayer" which does play the movies, but they still stutter.

How about rip to folder and play the non-mkv m2ts file?

                Primary HTPC

                i3 Caby Lake
                8 GB RAM
                SSD

No high utilization on any of the components. If there were random lag, I would suspect performance, but it's always the same places where the movie stutters.

                Also stutters on other systems.

I prefer MPV (https://mpv.io) to VLC. It might be worth a try.
