I'm new to MakeMKV, so I'm hoping for some input from those more experienced than I. I've ripped a few Blu Rays to my hard drive. The program ran great, but when I hook an HDMI cable to my laptop to watch the files on a television screen, the quality seems...sub par to me.
Am I doing something wrong? I was under the impression MakeMKV ripped Blu Rays uncompressed. But there's a very noticeable difference in quality if I put the actual disc into my computer and watch it on TV (via HDMI) vs. projecting the MakeMKV file onto the TV (also via HDMI).
Help On Blu Ray Quality
Re: Help On Blu Ray Quality
The key test would be to watch both using the SAME PROGRAM. The MKV file is a direct copy of what is on the disk, so they should appear identical in the same playing software. If you use VLC to play the MKV file and something else to play the "raw BD", it isn't just the rip that would be different between the two test.
