Life of Pi Embedded Subtitle automatically - newbie

Post by mdh44109 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 6:52 am

I just used the current version 1.8 of makemkv for the first time with Life of Pi Bluray. It put the english subtitle in automatically. Even when I unchecked all of the subtitle checkboxes, the subtitle was still there. The option was greyed out using either Windows Media Player or Powerdvd 12 Ultra. So I have no way to disable it.

Should I try using handbrake to convert it to another format, If yes, then would there be any loss of video quality? What format would be the best for Bluray.

You could use mkvtoolnix to remux it and remove the English subtitles.

Not with these crappy players apparently. What happens when you watch the MKV in VLC or MPC-HC?

Hi!

I believe it's been noted elsewhere that one of the .MPLS files (either 800 or 802) contains burned in subtitles (part of the video)...
