Hi All, new to the forum and would appreciate some help.
Bought a Sony BX59 Bluray player that says it can handle MKV files via the usb port. Well, it won't, say's file is corrupt or cannot be opened. Will read an MP4 of the same movie..but not an MKV. Any ideas?
Thank you
Sony BX59 and MKV files
Re: Sony BX59 and MKV files
My first test would be to use Handbrake to encode a movie twice, using the exact same settings, except have it output one as an MP4, the other as an MKV. If the MP4 plays, but the MKV doesn't, the player doesn't support MKV containers.
If they both play just fine, then there is an issue with the CODEC used in the MKV files that is different from the MP4 version.

Hi!
MKV is a "container" format.
Just because a player says it will play MKVs doesn't mean it can play any and all .MKVs. Playability on a particular player depends on the codecs used in the video/audio files contained in the .MKV...
