FPS setting really needed when re-merging MKVs?

FPS setting really needed when re-merging MKVs?

Post by samtoy » Thu Jan 12, 2012 8:13 pm

Hello all,

I sometimes re-merge MakeMKV's files with mkvmerge because I like the audio or subtitle streams in a different order. I open the mkv file in mkvmerge, arrange the streams and press Start.

But I keep reading on the internet that when merging a mkv using mkvmerge you also have to tell the program what FPS the movie has. This has to be done in the video streams' 'format specific options' under 'FPS' (of course).

But I'm wondering: Is this really neccessary?

Thanks for any help!

No. It's only required when e.g. adding elementary video streams, but not when remuxing an MKV source.
