Over 14 hours to make a mkv file?

Post by Ruraltexan » Sat Nov 12, 2011 11:05 pm

I started to make a mkv file over three hours ago, and the message is I have over 11hours 24 minutes to go. Since this is my first time using this program I don't know if this normal or not. The time seems excessive.

I am using the current version of the software, just downloaded it today.
Motherboard is Asus M5A97 EVO, CPU Phenom II T1100 six core, with 8GB DDR3 RAM.
Task Manager shows 6% CPU usage on mostly one core.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks

It's either your blu-ray drive or your hard drive. The CPU isn't going to be the bottleneck. Someone with more hardware experience is going to need to help you out.
Home Theater PC: Assassin HTPC, XBMCbuntu 12.0 (Frodo), Intel i5 3570k 3.4 GHz Ivy Bridge w/ HD 4000, LG BD-ROM
Playback Devices: Mede8er MED600X3D, MyGica EnjoyTV 120, Xtreamer SideWinder 3, Crystal Acoustics MediaMatchBox

I stopped the process, rebooted the computer and restarted MakeMKV. The total process took 40 minutes.

Still don't know why the first try was so bad, but since everything in this computer is new I guess I'll never know.

Thanks
