Automated file naming

I’ve seen features advertised in competitors’ software of automatic naming of movies and extras, and I’m interested in writing some software to do that for files made by MakeMKV.
It would essentially be a community driven database with a client front-end to either upload titles from files named manually or download titles that others have already uploaded. I can think of some heuristics that could be used to guess how to link up files ripped by different people, but is there anything definitive in the MKVs created by MakeMKV linking them to the disc and/or MPLS playlist? If so it could save a lot of effort from having to either re-rip discs a specific way or do expensive stream hash calculations.
