Manually pass volume key to MakeMKV

So there's this bluray I've been trying to rip for the past two months or so, though I always get an error of the like:

I have sent the dump some time ago but I still can't rip it, so I went and got a VUK from a friend of mine. I have been hoping that I could use it to have MakeMKV decrypt the video, so I have followed the instructions in this FAQ entry: https://www.makemkv.com/faq/item/12/category/8
It doesn't seem to make any difference at all, as if the software is not at all looking at text files.
I have read somewhere on here that MakeMKV uses its own database of keys, which I get. But isn't there any way to pass the VUK myself, when I have it, for a disk the software is unable to decrypt otherwise?

- Did you name the text file keydb.cfg?
- Have you tried a non-decrypted backup from the disc (folder icon when you first start MakeMKV, instead of opening the disc), and then try opening the backup? It looks as if MakeMKV is having some other errors when trying to open the disc.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, the file is named keydb.cfg and is placed in the MakeMKV data directory. I have tried to read from a non-decrypted backup, and sadly it didn't manage to decrypt it either. However that was a great suggestion because now the log is far cleaner:
