Repeat Scenes

#1 Post by scotttay » Sun Sep 30, 2012 7:38 pm

Hello I am ripping my blu ray movies to a .mkv file using make mkv, afterwards I am using aieesoft HD converter to convert the .mkv files to HD format for my ipad 3, however I am noticing that while playing the movies converted several scenes are being repeated over and over again for example
1. good deeds
2. safe
3 hunger games
These are the only ones I know of so far, I have checked the original movies i own and they do not have the repeat scenes. Can it be coming from the ripping process or the converting process? I also notice that most new movies that after mkv reads the disk have many files of the same size and same chapters, I was told to pick the longest one with the most chapters, well I am not sure since there are many (more than 10) that have the exact same file size and chapter length, and after taking a shot in the dark and pick the one I think is the correct one it does not work. Help I love your software and purchased it several months ago and I am lost and need help.

Thanks In Advance

It's a form of copy protection. Go to this thread to see how others have solved the problem.

@scottay

Hi!

If I remember correctly, "Source Code" was the first such example of including multiple "adjusted" .MPLS playlist files, most of which included repeated scenes.

This was made more difficult due to the fact that the movie actually DID have some repeated brief scenes in the way of "flashbacks" ;>}

I went through the likely titles, by time, of Good Deeds on blu-ray. Then I started watching each of them while comparing those files to the DVD version. The correct title which matches the DVD version is title t29. The length is 1:50:03 and the file size after extraction using MakeMKV is 32,413,323KB.
Hope this helps :) ,

The 't29 title' isn't a very portable way to identify a title on a blu-ray. MakeMKV appends the _t## part to the name so every title is guaranteed to be unique. The number is based on how many titles it finds when it scans the disc. That is affected by the minimum title length setting in MakeMKV's preferences. This means that what your installation of MakeMKV says is title t29 might be a completely different number for someone else's MakeMKV installation.

A better way to identify a title on a blu-ray is by either the source .mpls name or by the segment map. Both of these things are displayed in the 'info' box on the right when a title is highlighted on the left in the MakeMKV window. Both of those items are part of the blu-ray itself and as such aren't affected by any local settings of MakeMKV.

The rest of the information is still valid: the time and the file size. I agree that having the mpls is better so, I reran the MakeMKV with the Good Deeds Blu Ray in the drive. The mpls is 00565.
