Possible new Seamless branching Issues

#1 Post by Bronto45010 » Wed Apr 17, 2024 5:45 am

Much like for Kodi, I know there have been a few TrueHD issues here as well and apologise for bringing another here, but also would like to thank the team for the great tool that is MakeMKV as well.

Recently I had discovered an issue with TrueHD Atmos tracks from seamless branching titles that I thought (at the time) was due to Kodi. After some posting on the Kodi Forums and on their issues tracker in GitHub, we found that while Kodi did have issues that a fix is now being tested with, the file itself also had problems.

The sample file I provided below was created with v1.17.5 at the time, but I have used v1.17.6 and the problem is still present when using that version:

While I feel I understand what the issue was explained to be, I will link to the Github Ticket as one of the Kodi developers there had very thorough explanations of it and is more likely helpful to understanding the issue at play.

My original ticket: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues/24944
PR of their fix: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/24984

Forgot to mention that my test was primarily with Cars (2006) and the Kodi developer did find that the original disc (M2TS files) being played via Kodi worked correctly, and I was able to do the same on my end. Which showed the source files are good, but that something happens once this is then processed into an MKV file.

If this is in an incorrect forum category, please move it accordingly.

I noticed a couple of audio glitches when watching the extended version of The Abyss from my 1.17.6-sourced mkv, with bitstream Atmos to my Marantz AVR, played via Kodi 21 on a CoreELEC Ugoos AM6B+.
