How to determine the Stream-quality in MakeMKV

#1 Post by apdso9 » Mon Dec 27, 2010 7:33 pm

Hi,

i have a problem with the identification of the Soundstream-quality in MakeMKV.
For example: Today I ripped the love comedy "Silent Hill" ^^
Regarding bluray-disk.de it should have the following Soundstreams:
Deutsch DTS-HD MA 6.1
Englisch DTS-HD HR 5.1
Here you can check it: http://www.bluray-disc.de/blu-ray-filme ... u-ray-disc
I think this information could be right but how to check the stream-quality in Make MKV.
I want to know this because after the ripping process I rename the Sound-Channels in MKVtoolnix (mkvmerge) like this:
Linear PCM (German or English)
Dolby Digital (German or English)
DTS Digital Surround (German or English)
Dolby Digital Plus (German or English)
Dolby TrueHD (German or English)
DTS-HD High Resolution Audio (German or English)
DTS-HD Master Audio (German or English)
I do the same with the Video. There is no problem with the Identification: VC-1, MPEG-4/AVC, MPEG-2

Hope you can help me folks
How do you handle this problem??

Bye

Hi!

1) Your posting is unclear. It sounds like you've somehow miraculously converted two audiostreams into seven audiostreams

2) Is your source material an original, commercial Blu-ray disc or something else? If original, commercial Blu-ray disc, simply read the back of the package...

Hi setarip,

don't think so complicated! :)
I only listed the different codecs which are possible. Thant's all
I rename the Streams like this:
Linear PCM (German or English)
Dolby Digital (German or English)
DTS Digital Surround (German or English)
Dolby Digital Plus (German or English)
Dolby TrueHD (German or English)
DTS-HD High Resolution Audio (German or English)
DTS-HD Master Audio (German or English)
My question is. How to differ the soundquality in MakeMKV.
Also in MKVtoolnix is see no further informations about the Quality.
From Time to time I Only see DTS and 3/2+1
That could be DTS Digital Surround or DTS-HD High Resolution Audio.
How to differ? Hope you understand my problem.
And yes, i am talking about Blurays.

Thanks for any help!
Bye

I have already installed MediaInfo. It's a nice little tool.
But you can't see the Quality of the Stream. You can only see for example DTS 6 Channels.
This could be everything...

What? No. Then obviously it is just regular 6 Channel (5.1) DTS.

DTS-HD will say "dts-hd" in mediainfo and will also be 8 channel.

Perhaps you are confused... Go read the wikipedia articles for DTS and Dolby Digital...
