No chapters with Panasonic BD110

Post by Tschens »

Hello,
I am a newcomer in the field of mkv generation and playback. I just got my Panasonic BD110 Blu-Ray player and I am wondering if there is any chance to get the chapters working on this device with mkv files that are on my external hard drive. When I hit the "next chapter" button on the remote control I get a messsage such as "this function is not available".
I dont know it for sure, but after some research in the internet I think generally the Panasonic BD110 is able to recognize chapters in the mkv file, but it depends on the way the mkv is created (on the type of the embedded video file).
Is there any trick or workaround to get my player recognizing the chapters?
Thx in advance for any help.

1) When you initially created these .MKVs, did you either include or add chapters?

2) Do these .MKVs that you created play back with chaptering on your PC, under a software player?

3) Do they play with chaptering on any other (qualified) standalone players?

Hello,
after some additional search I think that my player cannot play chapters in mkv files.
The chapters are included in the files and work with VLC media player onmy PC.
I did not try on other stand alone player, I have no access to another one.
I hope panasonic provides a firmware update that allows to play chapters.

I have the same issue with my Oppo - I created on MKV and the chapters don't work where they would on the original media. Try making the MKV with handbrake instead. I tried converting the same movie from the same media and handbrake created chapters in the single MKV file that work fine. It is a shame because otherwise I prefer MakeMKV over handbrake but the chapters are essential.
