I've only recently become aware that the media streaming boxes based on the Realtek 1186 chip can play 3D blu-ray MKV's. That is, they can play the MKV file straight out of MakeMKV, no SBS or TAB required. The only problem is, there are so many of these players on the market! I've found at least a dozen in the last hour of Googling. Does anyone know of a roundup review of these players?
When did the big flood of these come on the market?
Roundup of Realtek 1186 based players?
Re: Roundup of Realtek 1186 based players?
So far as I'm aware the Mede8er med600x3d and med1000x3d are the only two that can do it without any messing around.

Re: Roundup of Realtek 1186 based players?
I got a Micca EP600 G2 for Christmas and I can confirm that it plays MVC MKV files. It kicks the projector into 3D mode and, as far as I can tell, plays exactly the same as the disc in the BD player.
I've read numerous posts that state that the Mede8er box is the only one on the market that can play MVC 3D but it appears that any player with the Realtek 1186 can do it (like the Micca box that I just got).

The KDLinks 720 can as well but you have to enable 3D SBS in the menu as it doesn't detect the 3D signal automatically like it does with 3D ISOs. Once enabled the quality is excellent. Another little glitch I've noticed is if you've got forced subs the very first line seems to get out not sure why this happens but I have noticed it a couple of times.
