Dears,
I have a question of understanding:
Why is there a significant difference of file size between a „MakeMKV“ Bluray rip and a converted from Handbrake?
Background: I have big issues to play mkv files on Android devices (Fire TV stick, Mi Box S, Kodi, MX Player, VLC, different codec packages) that have VC-1 video codec. These files have been generated by MakeMKV. So, I decided to convert these files. I used exactly the same preferences as I can see in the tool MediaInfo. But nevertheless there is a difference of up to 75% in file size. So, I tried the same with a AVC (H264) file coming from MakeMKV. But there is still a giant difference. How’s that possible?
Thanks
H264 mkv file size
Re: H264 mkv file size
Hi.
I know that. But when I drag the mkv file from MakeMKV to MediaInfo and see that video is AVC and put it into Handbrake with the same preferences, how can there be such a big difference?
What is Handbrake changing if the preferences are the same as before conversion?
Thanks

I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say that Handbrake is set to the same preferences as a ripped blu-ray.
The video tab of Handbrake controls the video encoding and has the largest impact on the overall file size. So what do you have set on that tab?
