Anything that can play DV P7 FEL from Mkv-File

Post by WEZZEBE »

Is there anything that can play Dolby Vision Profile 7 FEL from mkv-files with high quality Audio as well? (And not via Plex please. Preferred via Usb-SSD or NAS-Connection Without the NAS needing to do work except transfering the file)

1) Maybe like a self made Mini-PC or so that could do the trick? With certain software or so.
Or
2) Any Media-Player coming soon?

Thx in advance for the info

Here is all you need to know. The hard part might be finding one..

It pretty much does everything anyone could ask for..
FAQs
1. Which Dolby Vision profiles are supported on these devices?

These devices support Profile 4, 5, 7 FEL, 7 MEL, 8.1, and 8.4. CoreELEC supports Single-Track Dual-Layer and Dual-Track Dual-Layer from BDMV folders as well as ISO, M2TS, MP4, MKV, and TS files.

2. Does CoreELEC support Blu-ray menus?

Yes, to enable Blu-ray, menu support install the tools.jre.zulu 61 addon and then go to Settings → Player → Blu-ray playback mode and change it to Show Blu-ray menu. To play a menu, either navigate to a folder and long press the OK button or press the menu button and then select Play. You can also play the index.bdmv in the BDMV folder. CoreELEC supports Dolby Vision playback when using the menu.

The Ugoos remote kinda sucks.. So get a FLIRC and an Apple Remote, and be done with it.

I ordered an Ugoos AM6b+ and it took about two weeks to arrive from AliExpress. I have watched several full DV Profile 7 movies on it after installing CoreELEC. It works about as flawlessly as anyone could ask.

The only thing I do not like is the jankiness of the remote. It sucks quite a bit.

I still dream of a day where I can buy a streaming box like an nvidia Shield and just hook up an HDD of ripped 4K blurays and play them natively with full DV and lossless audio support.

I doubt these will get released as there is little motivation to support for DV7. S

Get a FLIRC (see my post above), and a IR remote that doesn't suck. Works fine.

I think Nvidia is probably done with the media console market. They haven't released anything new since 2019, and never fixed issues with Dolby FEL. At this point they are just milking their ShieldTV until nobody wants it anymore.

CoreElec on the Ugoos is great. I love not having to have advertising pushed in my face when I want to watch something..

Actually I found that I could just use the remote from my LG OLED. It works great. No lag. Much better than the remote that ships. Had to assign a few buttons for some tasks, but now I've got as nice a setup as anyone can ask!
