Can't rip DVD with empty AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories but DVD plays fine

Hi,
I'm not sure this is specific to Mac but since that's my platform I'll start here. I'm running
MacOS 26.2
MakeMKV 1.18.1 [darwin(arm64-release)]
libdvdcss 1.4.3 (installed from homebrew)
Here's my situation. I have a set of DVDs (Jeremiah Season 2) that produces the following behavior:
1. When you do a ls on the drive from Terminal it shows the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories, but they are empty. Same behavior if you do sudo ls -a
2. Doing a Get Info from Drive Utility does show that there should be 16 files on it
Volume name : DVDVIDEO
Volume type : Unknown
BSD device node : disk5
Mount point : /Volumes/DVDVIDEO
File system : Universal Disk Format (UDF)
Connection : USB
Device tree path : IODeviceTree:/arm-io/usb-drd1@2280000/usb-drd1-port-hs@01100000
Writable : No
Is case-sensitive : No
Volume capacity : 4,434,176,000
Available space (Purgeable + Free) : 0
Purgeable space : 0
Free space : 0
Used space : 4,434,176,000
File count : 16
Owners enabled : No
Is encrypted : No
System Integrity Protection supported : No
Can be verified : No
Can be repaired : No
Bootable : No
Journaled : No
Disk number : 5
Media name : HL-DT-ST DVDRW GX30N Media
Media type : DVD-ROM
Ejectable : Yes
Solid state : No
S.M.A.R.T. status : Not Supported
The disc plays fine with the DVD Player app so I know there's content there. When I try to use MakeMKV (or Handbrake for that matter) they both choke. Handbrake just automatically closes and MakeMKV just churns. Any thoughts?
