Grey Picture When Going From Blu Ray to MakeMKV to Handbrake

I've just brought myself an external blu ray drive and have been looking forward to backing up my blu ray and converting them using handbrake. The Blu Ray to .mkv seems to be working well, however when I go to load them into handbrake I get a grey picture preview window followed by an un watchable file (grey picture, terrible audio). Is there something I am doing wrong during the blu ray to .mkv process? I'm just popping the disc in and hitting go. I've attached a pic of the grey preview window I have been getting. Hoping someone out there can help me

It would help if you posted the log from MakeMKV, also if you posted the scan, and encode if available, log from Handbrake that might also help.

Hello,
same problem here.
I create a mkv from BD. This file ist okay and playable with VLC.
Then I load the file into Handbrake for reencoding to a smaller mkv.
In the preview window in Handbrake all preview pictures look grey like posted.
After reencoding the new mkv file got a few grey distorted frames in the first second. The rest of the file is normal.
This behavior appeared with MakeMKV 10.6.9/10.6.10.
As written in the version history there was a new buggy mkv-enginge introduced in 10.6.9 an fixed in 10.6.10. Perhaps it is still buggy?

Either it's fixed by 1.6.12 or its an interlaced VC-1 video. Please try 1.6.12 first.

It's neither. Interlaced VC-1 can't be recognized as a valid title and will therefore not show up in the title list (you can't have borked previews since there won't be any previews at all).

should be fixed in the nightly builds.
