The key that was emailed to me is not valid when I type it in - I have looked it over 10+ times for accuracy. I even deleted and reinstalled the software and tried again. Please help.

Typed it in, or copy/pasted it?

I've gone to using a two-step process for mailed keys when using copy/paste - Paste first to a text-only editor (removes formatting from the pasted text, then copy the text and past it into the app looking for the password/key. Both Microsoft and Apple have gotten "fancy" with copy/paste, and it screws everyone up.

Typing it in can introduce other errors, like missing hyphen ("-") characters, or changing the "-" to something that looks like a hyphen, but isn't. The two-step copy/paste tends to eliminate that.

The problem is that getting a true text-based program to do the copy/paste is getting harder.

I'm typing it in only because MakeMKV (I just downloaded the latest version for Mac) doesn't have any paste option. There are only a couple menu items and paste is not one of them so ???? I have read several forum posts about copying and pasting into a text only app- I tried making an Adobe pdf, Microsoft Word document and even Apple notepad but there is no way to paste after I copy from these. The registration screen says I can drag a document onto the screen and I've tried all 3 of these and it doesn't work :(

It doesn't? In Windows, copy/paste works as it does in other Windows programs - put the cursor in the blank, hit Ctrl-V to paste the key in. I was certain that the Mac has that too, because it's part of the operating system, not part of MakeMKV.

Stupid me, and I'm even a "Mac techie guy", didn't even occur to me to try the command-V shortcut - WORKED! Thanks for the kick in the head!
