Title says it all. Ever since upgrading, I've had crashes almost every time I've used the program.

Errors vary from telling me it lost the drive to my whole Mac shutting down because of unknown errors.

Is there a way to revert back to v1.16.4? That version was working perfectly.

If you did not save the previous install file, https://makemkv.com/download/old/ has the old versions.

Well, it appears that it won't let me use the older version - says that I need to either register using a key or download the newest version, which is bugged beyond belief.

Guess I'll need to look for an alternative to MakeMKV.

Well, that's because the key included in the install expired. You'll have to use the beta key found in the "MakeMKV is free while in beta" topic in the announcements forum.

The key that is in the 1.16.5 install expired a few days ago, too. Was that the crashing you experienced?

No, v1.16.5 was crashing my whole computer for a variety of reasons.

I got the updated key for v1.16.4 and all seems well again.

Out of curiosity, which OS are you on? Big Sur? Monterey? Something else? I've been on running MakeMKV v1.16.5 on Big Sur on Intel and it has been working swimmingly. I've read reports on this forum about folks having some non-trivial annoyances on Monterey related to permissions. Crashing the whole computer seems unique to your setup.
