1.16.3 - can't enable decryption for VLC & Handbrake

I've just installed 1.16.3, again I can't enable decryption for the external applications VLC, Handbrake.
Why does this keep getting disabled when the program is updated?

Probably because the sandboxing exceptions you enter for a program do not "stick" when one side changes.

The key takeaway (no pun intended) from Mike's message is this:
However, handbrake is inside app sandbox, and MakeMKV's libmmbd engine inherits these sandbox restricitions. Due to permissions set by handbrake developers, handbrake app itself can't access network. So, if you need to decrypt UHD content, you'll have to download key files manually and put them into a folder inside handbrake container.
The key information is stored in the MakeMKV data directory as part of
_private_data.tar, so my guess (not being a Mac user) is that you will have to copy that file to the directory where handbrake is.
Probably the easiest way to generate a current key file would be to open your newest UHD disk in MakeMKV, let it download the latest keys and update _private_data.tar, then copy that to the handbrake directory.

What about VLC?
I use that more than handbrake.
Can we get a reply from the author on this issue?
>>newest UHD disk
I have no UHD disks, only DVD & BR (unless you consider BR to be UHD ??)
