Can't process ripped MKV (video not recognized)

After ripping about 70 blu ray discs I have problems with King of Queens (season 2 and 3).

I have ripped my discs with MakeMKV and it worked really well. In the case of King of Queens I am creating separate MKVs for each episode.

The MKVs won't play with VLC (audio works but no video - it throws a message that it does not support the video format "undf").

When scanning the MKV with Handbrake it reports: [17:15:43] scan: could not get a decoded picture

I also tried to use AnyDVD instead and process the ISO with TSMuxer (to create a TS file). Also no luck with Handbrake in the end.

How can I solve this? Can somebody please point me to the right direction.

Thanks in advance
Andreas

I'm getting the same problem when ripping Torchwood Season 1 episodes from BR. At first I had thought it might have been something to do with it being a Brit show, but seeing this I guess it's a bug. I'll be happy to provide any debug logs or what not you guys might need to help track this one down.

I am having the same issue. I think it is from the update perhaps? I have ripped 3 BR titles tonight from my collection---all said that they were saved correctly, but will not be used as a 'source' file within Handbrake. I have never had this problem before with any of the 25+ BRs I have ripped so far. Thanks for any input.

And here too, I'm having the same problem. Interestingly though, this is what i've noticed.

1. I ripped "Eagle Eye". It found 6 titles; the main feature, with a size of 29.27GB, and a bunch of extras. Titles 2, 4 and 5 open in handbrake without a problem every time, with file sizes of 842MB, 1.19GB and 989MB respectively.
2. I was able to open Eagle Eye ONCE in Handbrake; and never again. I didn't rip it; I was getting some settings ready, when I needed to restart the machine to install some apple software update that was unrelated. When I came back, handbrake would not budge.
3. I was using MakeMKV version 1.4 something. I have since upgraded to 1.5.0, and am about to try with another disc.
4. Some blu rays work, and others do not.

I have just retried with makemkv 1.5.1

Still no luck.

Does anybody else have an idea? Maybe somebody from the development team would like to analyze this?

:?

Please use mediainfo to confirm what kind of codec your output has. The VC-1 codec is very problematic but the "snapshot" version of HB should handle it fine.

I am still having the same problem, and i'm posting below related information. So far, every single Blu-Ray I have ripped comes up with the exact same problem, "Invalid source found" in handbrake.

I have tried Eagle Eye, Juno, Sweeney Todd, and Final Fantasy.
I am using MakeMKV 1.5.0Beta.
I am using Handbrake Snapshot version, svn3154 x86_64 (2010030701)
I am using an external USB2 LG Blu Ray HDDVD combo drive.

Below is the mediainfo analysis of the output file:

That should be frustrating. Can I please ask you to do a test: please process this disc again two times, and create two MKVs - in first leave only video track, unselect all audio and subtitles tracks, and in second keep all audio but unselect all subtitles. Be sure to unselect all "forced" subtitles. Please let me know if either file will be recognized by HB. I apologize for asking to perform a lenghty task.

Snapshot HB should work with MKVs.

No problem.

I'm currently ripping a video only version; no audio, no subtitle, no forced subtitle.

Next I will rip a Video and Audio only, no subtitle, no forced subtitle.

I will report my findings.

Success!

It appears that the files output without subtitles are successfully added into Handbrake.

So, if I were able to somehow remove the subtitle tracks from the previously ripped titles, these will be importable through Handbrake too?

Yes. You can use mkvtoolnix to extract and remove subtitles and you can use suprip to convert Blu-ray PGS subtitles to SRT text subtitles, that are recognized by HB.

Success!, i ripped direct from disc using MakeMKV, then encoded using ReduxEncoder, works a treat
