Advice on New Blu-Ray Burner

My older Pioneer BDR-206 seems to be dying. Keep getting Hardware Error Sense Code failures
I would appreciate any input on people using newer BD-R Burners

I am considering
LG WH16NS40 or WH14NS40
Pioneer BDR209BDK

A bit concerned about possible rip-lock firmware on pioneer and newer LG's

Just wanted to know what your experiences are on recent models of Pioneer/LG rip speeds, connection method if external ,riplock problems etc.

I have the LG WH16 and WH14 drives, and both work fine with MakeMKV. I have seen no speed problems with them, and have seen 10x speeds ripping some BDs.
