FLAC ripping from Music DVD possible?

#1 Post by happycadaver » Sun Nov 18, 2012 7:41 pm

Can MakeMKV in any way rip the audio section of a music DVD in FLAC format?

If not, can i use MakeMKV as a base for getting my music DVDs as FLAC audio files?

Thank you!

I would use Makemkv to rip from the disc, and then use Foobar to convert to flac. Foobar will even allow you to split chapters into separate files.

Could be a possibility, but there's no OSX version of Foobar available.

However, i didn't know that Foobar can rip audio chapterwise from a single mkv file.

Not sure that I understand the question, but if you take your DVD and select FLAC profile in MakeMKV, you'll get an MKV file with FLAC audio track. Then, you can extract audio track from MKV file using mkvextract from mkvtoolnix and you'll get just the flac audio.
