clearing unused custom default destinations

Is there a preferred way to clear unused custom default destinations on a
mac platform? My list is getting quite lengthy. The information seems to be
persisted in the file ~/Library/MakeMKV/screen.conf Is it OK to
edit this file directly? Is there a better way to manipulate this list?

Possibly useful information:
MakeMKV Version: v1.18.1
Apple M1 Max / macOS Sequoia Version 15.4 (24E248)

It seems like this would be a good option & easy to program.
