DASPI mode has issues

#1 Post by gregjsmith » Sat Feb 05, 2011 11:26 pm

Installed DASPI and 1.6.4. Lots of errors and MakeMKV beachballed while making my drive have a fit. See attached log.

What is your OS version? Are you running 32-bit or 64-bit kernel? Is it internal drive or external one?

Please provide more details about drive and enclosure, is it connected via USB, FireWire or E-SATA? What is enclosure model? Can you by any means test the same Mac computer with another drive?

Anyone else encountered similar errors?

I have a Fastmac USB BD drive, and the DASPI protocol has slowed things down quite bit. Primarily disc access. Reading the disc is only slightly slower, but when it first goes to access the drive itself, it's noticeably slower.

DASPI has speed up my reading quite a bit. For the fist time I'm getting <can read data faster than can write>...which I don't understand being that my drive is USB2 and my Hard drive is SATA.

I have an iMac 3.06GHz with OS 10.6.6. Without DAPSI 39 seconds to open the disk 11:00 min to copy a 1.7 gig episode.
With DAPSI installed and computer rebooted, 30 seconds to open the same disk and 14:00 min to copy same episode. So I guess it does not work on my setup.

I have a OWC external bluray burner running via Firewire 800. It improved after several restarts of the computer and reboots of the drive.
