Hey all --
I just bought a LG BU40N drive and have the 1.03 MK firmware on it. It works fine but is clearly RipLocked.
Does anyone know of a Blue-Ray (doesn't have to be a 4k drive) that is not RipLocked and that actually spins. the drive up fast for ripping? This BU40N drive is a good drive, but man, I really wish it ripped DVDs faster. Pretty painful.

On a side note, the BU40N is just barely faster than the stock SuperDrive that came in my 2012 MacBook Pro.

All LibreDrive drives have capacity to become riplock-free. This will magically happen some day in future (when time will allow this). ETA is unknown...

So, it's been about 5 years. I noticed my BU40N 1.03 is also ripping DVDs at ~2.6x max. Do we have any hope of LibreDrives becoming riplock-free soon? (Or is there perchance a riplock patch that keeps the stability of BU40N's 1.03 firmware?)mike admin wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 7:35 pmAll LibreDrive drives have capacity to become riplock-free.
