Problems with the Optiarc BC-5600S Drive?

#1 Post by Ryan727 » Fri Aug 06, 2010 2:49 pm

Has anyone had problems with this drive? I believe I have the most current firmware version 103B. The last three Blu-rays I have tried to copy to my hard drive wont copy. I tried to copy them without using Makemkv and it still doesn't work. My computer registers the disc and will start the copying process but then fails about 1/3 of the way through. All three discs are Lionsgate films, is it the disc encryption that’s preventing the drive from copying the movies. All three disc play fine in my PS3 so I don't think they are faulty discs. Any ideas?

Please enable the debug log per instructions at http://www.makemkv.com/faq/item/8/catid/6 and post it here.

Here is the log, it seems to be getting hung up on one particular .m2ts file. This is also the case with the other films.

Here is the log from another Lionsgate film, Makemkv can't even open this particular disc nor can I copy the disc to my hard drive.

Can you copy that file or entire disc to harddrive in finder?

Nope, I've tried to copy the entire disc as well as the specific movie file and both fail. All discs play fine in my PS3 and I have copied other Blu-ray's. I don't know if it has something to do with all three discs being Lionsgate films?

For some reason your drive physically fails to read them. I can only suggest to update the drive firmware if possible.
