Can't install or use DASPI kernel on macOS 10.12.1
Re: Can't install or use DASPI kernel on macOS 10.12.1
I can't offer anything except that Mike said a year or so ago that the DASPI kernel should NOT be installed unless MakeMKV gives you a message asking for it.
Supposedly, for most Macs and recent versions of OS X, it isn't necessary, and can cause problems.

Re: Can't install or use DASPI kernel on macOS 10.12.1
Ok under macOS 10.12.1 I was not able to run daspi_1.5 because of system integrity. Had to disable it.
So no problem once I got daspi_1.5 installed. In order for me to install daspi_1.5 on macOS 10.12.1 I had to:
1. boot into recovery partition (command + R on reboot)
2. open Terminal
3. type: csrutil disable
4. reboot the computer
After reboot system integrity is disabled and daspi_1.5 can be installed no problem. Now It's working without issues.
There really need to be some better instructions for other macOS 10.12 users, no?
Thanks.

Re: Can't install or use DASPI kernel on macOS 10.12.1
Maybe, others, like myself had read that it was not nesscessary.
Actually, I have had no use for it the 3+ years I've been using the app.

Re: Can't install or use DASPI kernel on macOS 10.12.1
I don't know if it was really needed but I also just enabled the daspi extension.
I was getting the message, "It's highly recommended to install DASPI kernel extension to improve performance." so even though everyone said I would be told if it was required this message seemed to send a mixed message -- it isn't saying it's required but that it's "highly recommended" but everyone else said I would be told only if it were required.
Anyway, it's on know.
The recovery mode and terminal instructions are very helpful. Thanks.
Though, instead of
csrutil disable
I left on some protection and instead just disabled the kext checking using the command:
csrutil enable --without kext

Re: Can't install or use DASPI kernel on macOS 10.12.1
I DO NOT recommended installing DASDI on 10.12.2.
My Mac OS system would not boot after 10.12.2 update with the unsigned kext. Maybe it's the way I had disabled the SIP but I reinstalled the OS to get it to work again and also removed the kext and the reset caches just to get the OS to boot up.
Apple has really made it difficult.
Anyone else have this issue? Maybe it was the way I disabled SIP, since I had only disable protection for unsigned kext.
