Why does MakeMKV open the Terminal

I've noticed that sometimes MakeMKV opens the Terminal when running. Is this normal?

I've never seen it, despite using the app hundreds of times.

I noticed that in the terminal it is running java from Xcode. It just started doing this recently and I was wondering if it was part of a new update?
