(Solved) problem since updating beta key

Post by Noddy »

Hi Mike,
I wonder if you could please help with a problem that I have recently encountered ?

For some reason I no cant rip any disks, the program recognizes my drive and starts to scan the disc. Then I get the error message "No disc inserted" in the info window, the only think I can think that is different since the program stopped working is that I updated the beta key. I was running 1.5.2 when it stopped working I upgraded to 1.5.5. and uninstalled and reinstalled and tried various discs I have attached my log.

I would be grateful of any help as I was just about the purchase the program when this happened and up until now it was performed perfectly

Thanks in advance.

Something prevents MakeMKV from accessing a drive. Might be other program, software update or changed configuration.

After deleting and going back over old builds of makemkv the newest one I can get to work is 1.5.2., anything newer than that and the program starts to read the disc and then the "no disc inserted" message is displayed and the disc un mounts from the desktop. I have tried the "workarond" methods with no luck.

I'm using a LG CH08LS10 and it has been fine up until now.

I really would be very grateful of any help. Thanks in advance

I have solved the problem that I have had since 1.5.2 and I thought I would post the solution in case it may help others.

I was using a basic OWC USB enclosure kit http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/VLSTOPTU2/ which worked find up to 1.5.2, also I could use it with OSX programs such as toast ect . I took my drive out of the enclosure and changed it for a Vantec NexStar DX NST-530S2 and now my drive works with 1.5.7. This post from the forum gave me the idea :

"installed a LG CH08 LS 10 in an external 5,25 box ( JJ Venus DS5 ):
- Connected in USB 2 to a Mac Mini '09 (10.5. , BD mounts but MakeMKV doesn't sees the disk and so, doesn't works. Same thing with a MB Pro '08 and 10.6.3
- But affortunaly the external box has an e-Sata connector and my MB Pro an ExpressCard slot which i connected a eSata card, and Eureka, everything works fine : average speed of BD Rip : 3x."
[/i]

I dont know why this happened, if I use the old OWC enclosure it works fine up until 1.5.2

Very strange

I encountered this issue when I made some alterations to the makemkv library with a youtube to mp3 converter. Somehow a few of my source files got moved into a dropbox (or cloud) folder of sorts. It might be worth running a quick registry fix of some kind, or navigating the root folders yourself to make sure everything is being pointed in the right direction. Road blocks pop up often when you are not paying attention.
