Recommend a blu-ray drive

I am looking at getting a blu-ray drive, but I am unsure which one to get so that makemkv is supported. Can I get a blu-ray drive that just reads blu-ray, but writes cds and DVDs? I was looking at some of the slim drives on ebay. I believe they have a panasonic drive, and a sony drive.
