Blu-Ray won't eject after spin down

Post by chazman88 »

Hi,

I have an issue where unless I eject the disc within about a minute of the rip completing then I cannot get the disc draw to open. If i try and eject the disc in anyway (from the menu in MakeMKV, from the eject button on the keyboard or from diskutil) then it appears to crash "Finder" as i can't open any other application. Also the eject button on the disc drive does absolutely nothing. If i use the emergency eject (paper clip into the little hole on the front of the drive) and then put a new disc in the OS does not recognise it. This happens with both my internal Blu-Ray and my USB Blu-ray.

Once this has happened i've found the only way to then get the disc out is to power down the computer and disconnect the power, leave it for a few minutes and then power on the computer. After this the disc drive works fine.

If i eject the disc asap after finishing the rip then it all works fine.

I have tried with and without the DASPI kext installed.

System Specs:
Hackintosh - Mavericks 10.9
MakeMKV 1.8.8
Sony Optiarc BD-5300S on SATA
(cheap) USB Blu-Ray

No sure what other info is required to try and troubleshoot this issue.........

Cheers

I believe it is the bug in this particular drive power management. Please try the same without MakeMKV - put the disc in, leave it for a while, then try to eject.

Same problem here. Will attempt to re-create outside of MakeMKV.
