No success with LG WH12LS39

Post by gawk9876 »

Hello,
I just bought the LG WH12LS39 and I am trying to use it on my Mac. I have 2 Blu-Rays I own I have been trying to rip - The Incredible Hulk, whose digital copy version expired by the time I bought the Blu-Ray, and Iron Man 2, which did not come with a digital copy.
No matter what I try, I cannot get beyond the Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:ILLEGAL MODE FOR THIS TRACK errors.
I have the latest libdvd file installed in my AACs folder
I have deleted all the preferences.
I have both the KEYDB.cfg and the KEYDB 2.cfg in my ~/.makeMKV folder
I also have the KEYDB.cfg file in my ~/.config/aacs folder
I have libdvdcss.2.dylib in /usr/lib
Nothing seems to work, neither MakeDVD nor Handbrake (latest of both as of Feb 28 2012)

Has anyone had success with this combination? Should I try Parallels with Windows 7? has anyone had success with that?
Any and all help would be appreciated. I am a humble noob (but very tech savvy)

Working on it right now (it takes a while). In the interim, I noted this when it started running:

Code: Select all

MakeMKV v1.7.2 darwin(x86-release) started
Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as /Users/-----/MakeMKV_log.txt
Optical drive "DVD+R-DL OPTIARC DVD RW AD-7170A 1.NC" opened in DASPI v1.3 mode.
Optical drive "BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH12LS39 1.00" opened in DASPI v1.3 mode.
Using direct disc access mode
The Blu_Ray is in the 2nd bay in my 2008 tower, connected via SATA. From reading that, am I correct in assuming that the DASPI v1.3 driver failed and instead it is opening in direct access? Does MakeMKV have issues connecting to a Blu-Ray that is connected via SATA rather than FW or USB (or ATA)?

BTW, it is stuck at "opening Blu-ray disc" after reading a bunch of the .m2ts files, so now I can't even choose which tracks to import. And yes, I have power cycled the tower...

It appears that there is a hardware problem with your drive. There is a simple test - close MakeMKV and try to copy all files from this disc in finder, then see if you get any errors.
