Hi,
Am new new here so just wanted some reassuring words before purchasing a drive.
I currently torn between two:
Sony BDX-S500U
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004 ... d_i=468294
LG BE12LU30
http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-BE12LU30-Ext ... omputers_1
I wanted to know:
1) If these drives will work with makemkv on mac, does any drive recognised by mac automatically work with makemkv?
2) Do the drives rip at full speed, the drives in mac laptops seem to have some limiting read speed when the dvd is protected, is this true for blu-ray drives too?
3) Which one is best, i don't mind the price difference and I have a (fairly uneducated) opinion that sony is possibly better quality generally?
I am familiar with handbrake etc, just new to blu-ray
Thanks for answering my simple questions - I just wanted a bit of reassurance before buying.
Cheers!
Drive choice help - sorry!

hmm...I wouldn't have thought you would go for the slower drive that cost more.
