I thought of that. It is powered by a single usb cable. I've ordered a dual. When it get here, I'll post the results.

Is it from a powered hub, or straight from the computer?

It was straight from the computer. But I got the dual USB cord and tried it today. Seems to have solved the problem.

Did 1.8.1 changed anything?

Been using the setup on a 7 port hub for 2 months now...works just fine (using 1.8.2 and now 1.8.3)
