1.8.0 not recognizing drives

Post by stevesnell »

I've been using 1.8 for awhile with no problems. Sent my MacPro in for a memory problem (had to remove 4GB of bad RAM, leaving 6GB) and now, with no other changes that I'm aware of, MakeMKV doesn't recognize either my SuperDrive or my OWC Blu-ray drive. Tried both USB 2.0 and Firewire 400, nothing. However, I can see the disk on my desktop. Any help appreciated.

Try opening MakeMKV after the disc has mounted to the Finder.

Yes, I read the other threads about this trick but it unfortunately didn't work in my case.

This is different error. Does it ever go past this screen? Do you have DASPI installed?

I did but reinstalled and that fixed the problem. Thank you so much!

I spoke too soon. When I reboot the computer, MakeMKV works one time. When I complete a DVD and then try to eject the disk, it won't eject from within MakeMKV. When I quit, it asks if I want to cancel the current operation. When I relaunch, it doesn't recognize the drives again. Frustrating...

New information. When I reboot, I can see both my superdrive and blu-ray drive through system profiler. MakeMKV will works properly. However. After I quit processing the first disk and attempt to relaunch, MakeMKV does not work and neither the superdrive or blu-ray drive can be seen by system profiler.

Please try following:

1. Eject discs from all drives, Reboot, launch MakeMKV, exit MakeMKV. Check drives operational (insert disc, see in finder)
2. Eject discs from all drives, Reboot, launch MakeMKV, press big button to open disc, close MakeMKV. Check the drives.
3. Eject discs from all drives, Reboot, launch MakeMKV, press big button to open disc, eject disc from within MakeMKV, close MakeMKV. Check the drives.

Seems to be working now. I'll keep testing. Thanks.
