makeMKV.app is damaged and can't be opened. you should move it to the trash.
i downloaded it twice and got the same message. does anyone know anything about this
thank you for the reply. i tried option-clicking to open, but received the same message that makeMKV is damaged and can't be opened. it's very strange because years ago i used an older version of makeMKV on the same computer with no problems. i will look at updating the OS to 10.13. thank you again.dcoke22 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2026 3:56 pmIt has been a while since I've used macOS Sierra. I'm pretty sure this is just Apple's Gatekeeper getting in the way. Instead of double-clicking on the app, right-click (or Option click) and select Open. If I remember correctly, it'll open a dialog to try to convince you not to open it, but you can open it anyway. You just have to get through the first open this way, then it should behave like normal, with your Mac remembering that you've allowed this app to run.
As a side note, if you're running macOS Sierra 10.12, the next release of macOS 10.13 High Sierra runs on all the same hardware. You should consider updating.
