Scsi error

Post by RonnieA »

I've read a few posts about the Scsi error - illegal request but can't see that any had a resolution. Anyone know if there's a fix for the following:

MakeMKV v1.16.5 darwin(x64-release) started
Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as /Users/RonnieA/MakeMKV_log.txt
Optical drive "DVD+R-DL HL-DT-ST DVDRW GX50N RR06 KZ5EAQA4844d" opened in OS access mode.

The drive I'm using is Apple's USB Superdrive which recognises and plays all the discs I've tried but all are coming up with this Scsi error in MakeMKV.

Any guidance much appreciated.

Added debug log in case it offers any help:

What does MakeMKV say about the drive on the main screen before you open a disc?

The GX50N is the LG made drive Apple has used in the SuperDrive for a long time. It should work with MakeMKV, although I've never tried to use one.

As foolish as it sounds, have you tried rebooting your computer? Also, is the drive plugged into your computer directly or via a USB hub? When used with MakeMKV USB powered drives can sometimes be wanting for more power than a USB port can provide. This is why USB powered drives that are not Apple's SuperDrive often come with a Y-cable that lets people plug the drive into two ports, to use the power from both of them.

Thanks. . Drive is connected via USB 3.0 port. I'll try a soft then hard reboot to see if that helps.
