Disc Label Detection + Kernel 3.6.2

Post by Azlinon »

I just fired up 1.7.7 and noticed disc labels now detect as "LOGICAL_VOLUME_ID". Everything used to work on 1.7.7, but I recently upgraded that machine to kernel 3.6.2 from 3.3.8.

If you have any difficulty reproducing this on a new kernel, please let me know and I'll dig through my logs for other changes that might have happened close to the same time. I wasn't able to check against 1.7.8 due to the GLIBC issue, so this might even be fixed.

This program is the only thing that lets me watch BluRay discs on any of my computers! +1

My bad. It turns out all three rentals I just got to watch have the same problem, and I'd never seen it before. The problem is NOT specific to the kernel version, but rather to each of the discs in question.

The "Available Devices" popup in my systray (Mageia 2 running KDE 4.x) correctly identifies the discs, however, so it masked the problem with the media. It may make sense to adopt the same volume label logic, at least in the case of the current method returning "LOGICAL_VOLUME_ID".
