Only sound, no video

If i try to play the .mkv file, in some files i get only sound, but there is no video.
Is there a troubleshooting for this?

You give very little info. Which distro do you use, which media player have you tried?
My first guess would be that you got a problem with some video codec. Try playing it with the VLC player, which has built-in support for most codecs. You could also try to find out more about the used codecs with something like "mediainfo" (probably easily installable depending on the linux distro you use).
