I am dealing with discs that have weird structures and makemkvcon is falling on its face trying to enumerate them.

lsdvd can list the titles no problem ffmpeg dvdvideo demux can find them as well.

I'm reading that "expert mode" may work in this scenario, but my workflow requires no GUI. Is there no way to leverage this option from cli with makemkvcon? If not that is a major strike against makemkv prevents justification for me to purchase a license.

Also, the project seems dead. Last announcement on a linux release in here is from 2009.

makemkv should open source its demuxer and allow it to live on in projects people are willing to work on and solve basic problems like this.

Last release was a few weeks ago - the author, however, simply edits the post to put the new files up, so that they don't change linkage with each release.

Maybe look through this, it does assign expert mode in "app_string.py", although I'm not sure what it does with the value: https://github.com/me-dex/mmkv_abi

If ffmpeg can parse it, then why not use that? You might be better off running dvddecrypter through wine.
