Can't uncompress files for 1.18.2

Hi,
I just downloaded the files for version 1.18.2. Both of them can't be uncompressed. I used Ubuntu 24.04 with "tar xfz [filename]" and also tried to open them in Krusader. Any idea what might be wrong?

Did you unGzip them before trying to unTar them?
Tar will refuse to work with them as gzip'd for size. Some versions of tar have gzip/ungzip built in, but you have to tell it to use it.

It would be nice if this could be fixed, it would save some wall clock for aging people.

flojos hint did the trick. Thank you!
Since I had always used tar with the z option to deal with .tar.gz files it didn't come to my mind that I need to use gunzip separately. Especially when even Krusader would not like to open the .gz part. Any idea what's wrong with these files?

It's a *.tar.gz.gz when it should be just *.tar.gz
This wouldn't be troublesome to me but the verification hash is _NOT_ for the file you download but the file inside the .gz, which of course is not what anyone should expect.
