The easiest way I could find to install from a reliable source was to install MakeMKV as described here... https://snapcraft.io/install/makemkv/raspbian
I bought a lifetime key recently so applied that, and I now have v1.18.1 [linux(arm64-release)] working flawlessly. No tinkering required.
I still use my AMD Ryzen 5 5600X tower PC for video transcoding as the Pi is painfully slow for that, but at least my ripping activities can now be carried out on a device that only sips power whilst doing it.
Thanks to all involved in making this possible.
