My evaluation period expired so I tried to use the BETA key as described here:

but makemkv says the key is expired and removes it. Can we still use makemkv without purchasing since it's in BETA?

I don't get the message about the key being removed from ~/.MakeMKV/settings.conf any more, but it still tells me my evaluation period is over and it doesn't let me rip a disc. I'm on 1.5.5. This is all I have in settings.conf:

appKey = "T-o4vIHFtFMG0O4H5u0NT40YJcRLnfXk2j1O0Yiy3O6YrwbHga7kWEYays4AS6MTK9h9"

I've double-checked permissions on the folder and file.

I forgot the underscore in app_Key.

Makemkv beta expired and there isnt a new one. Batch encode errors out cause of trial expiration but i believe you are still allowed to use Makemkv regardless of beta expiration (at least until our of beta).

The link currently has a key that expired a couple of days ago. The message you're replying to is 6 years old!

When Mike replaces it, the note at the bottom will say something like....

and is valid until end of (probably) November 2017.

Right now, it's 1 October in many parts of the world, so the September key doesn't work anymore.

Would be really great if this didn't happen a couple times a month... Not sure I want to consider supporting something that stops working until its updated by the owner...

It hasn't happened to me since 2011. Of course, that was when I bought a permanent key.

The keys are typically good for two months. If you're having it happen 'a couple of times a month', there is something else going on.
