I used the windows gui version was able to deselect unneeded languages and subtitles.
On Ubuntu 14.04 makemkv shows a popup message that it failed to initialize. I used a configure switch --prefix=/usr/local when compiling.
I prefer to use command line anyway. How can I discard the extra languages and subtitles using makemkvcon?
makemkvcon - Can I discard subtitles and other languages?

I haven't looked into it, but first you could try setting the default track selection in the GUI, then try setting the default track selection in the profile.
Tell us which one works.

The GUI version is not running for me on Ubuntu 14.04. I get an 'application failed to initialize' error.
I'm only able to use the console version. when I run `makemkvcon info` i see the following results. I assume I want Audio track 1 only.
