MakeMKV Startup errors

Post by younguns » Thu Nov 14, 2013 2:55 pm

I have downloaded and installed version 1.8.6 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. The problem I am having now is as follows:

First off, on startup I get the following error codes:

MakeMKV v1.8.6 linux(x64-release) started
Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as /home/MakeMKV_log.txt
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:INVALID COMMAND OPERATION CODE' occurred while issuing SCSI command 46020..00140 to device 'SG:dev_11:1'
DEBUG: Code 0 at @8")a&bc7x0%/Wx_:29402026
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:INVALID COMMAND OPERATION CODE' occurred while issuing SCSI command 46020..00140 to device 'SG:dev_11:1'
DEBUG: Code 0 at @8")a&bc7x0%/Wx_:29402026

Secondly, if I try to go ahead and get the info from the disk, I wind up with a POSIX error:

Saving 1 titles into directory /home/B/Movies/X-Men_The_Last_Stand
Error 'Posix error - Input/output error' occurred while writing data to '/home/B/Movies/X-Men_The_Last_Stand/title00.mkv' at offset '1778384896'
Failed to save title 0 to file /home/B/Movies/X-Men_The_Last_Stand/title00.mkv
0 titles saved, 1 failed

Any help towards understanding what is going on here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Anybody have any clues to this problem?

Are you writing to a shared resource? The Posix error on write usually only happens when a network is involved, but it can happen on local drives. In fact, this error message pops up in searches for errors under Mac OS/X far more often than it does for Ubuntu...

How is the optical drive attached to the computer? SATA? IDE? USB? Firewire?

The optical drive is connected through SATA and is internal. It is writing to a internal HD SATA connected with 2 linux partions.
