In a previous thread, I mentioned this issue.
Since that post, I have made sure my system is up-to-date (Debian Sid), and have re-compiled MakeMKV to the current system. The issue remains. MakeMKV attempts to read a disc (any DVD or BD disc), and I can hear the drive momentarily read the disc, but it never progresses. makemkvcon will run a thread at 100% until manually killed, even after the program (GUI) is closed. The drive does work in a Win7 VM with MakeMKV. My other devices, including a similar BDR-XD05, works fine under Linux with MakeMKV.
The BDR-XD08 can read CDs and DVDs under Linux outside of MakeMKV.

Sounds like the endless scanning bug on versions > 1.17.7 on Linux, you need to downgrade to that version.

Yes, that seems to be the issue. I still had a copy of 1.17.6. Quickly compiled and tested, and the BDR-XD08 worked!
