Hello. I have installed before but not on this current install. Does this error make any sense?
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.5.2/libstdc++.a(functexcept.o): relocation R_X86_64_32S against `vtable for std::bad_function_call' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.5.2/libstdc++.a: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [out/libmakemkv.so.1.full] Error 1
Thanks.
I updated gcc, libstdc* and it still gives me this error.
bad value? when installing on Ubuntu 11.04 x86_64
Re: bad value? when installing on Ubuntu 11.04 x86_64
I also have VirtualBox and Windows XP64 on my computer. If I can not get Linux to compile correctly (sad for me because I know it works well on Linux from past experiences), can I use it on the virtual XP64 on the same computer? Resources wise, I have 6 cores and 8gb of ram. I can allocate 4 or 5 cores and 4gb of ram to the VM. Will my Linux reg key work? I only bought one. That is my question. Thanks!

I just tried an older version 1.6.8 and this is what I get after I compiled bin first... oss gives me:
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.5.2/libstdc++.a(functexcept.o): relocation R_X86_64_32S against `vtable for std::bad_function_call' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC

Re: bad value? when installing on Ubuntu 11.04 x86_64
Same problem with 1.5.8
Re: bad value? when installing on Ubuntu 11.04 x86_64
This is most surely NOT a problem with MakeMKV. I just had the same problem compiling a different program. Sorry to waste space...
Re: bad value? when installing on Ubuntu 11.04 x86_64
Well, it is still an area of concern that Linux does find it increasingly hard to compile this as when compared to Windows. I think this difference occurs mainly due to the recent version 1.5.8. I would suggest you to consider an update now that more recent versions are available and see if it persists.
