Problems with 1.16.5

Post by npdude » Tue Nov 02, 2021 4:05 am

First, a little background. I usually use MakeMKV by first making an ISO of the disc using K3b, then pointing MakeMKV at the ISO. After upgrading my Gentoo system to 1.16.5 this evening through the Gentoo repos, I'm seeing strange problems. Titles missing are missing, and DEBUG messages that look very strange to me. Following is a log generated when opening an ISO. When I opened the same ISO with 1.16.4 yesterday, it successfully extracted 9 titles, and did not get any corruption messages.

Those DEBUG messages look fishy, right? I may need to open a bug in the Gentoo tracker, but I'd like to hear if anybody else is seeing this behavior.

I've now installed from the tarballs provided here in the forums instead of the gentoo repositories, with the same results.

I meant to come back earlier to report that the problem went away a couple days later. A system restart cleared something up, I think. It's too bad I didn't try that first before posting here.

When I launch v1.16.5 I get the usual window, but before it reads the blueray drive it displays a pop up which says "Fatal error occurred, program will now exit.". It does not matter if there is a disc in the drive or not, it does not get that far.

I have tried going back to v1.16.2, but I get the same behavior. The drive is fine because other apps are able to open the drive and list the contents.

Would appreciate any help resolving this. Here is the log file:

I discovered that this issue was caused when my firewall blocked makemkv. Don't know why that caused makemkv to exit, but it would be nice if it logged what caused the exit.

I changed my firewall not to block makemkv and now it works as before.
